The annual European Commission Rule of Law Report monitors significant developments relating to the rule of law in all Member States, including Malta. The report forms part of the rule of law mechanism set up as a process for dialogue between the EU insitutions and the Member States across the Union.

In drawing up the report, the Commission relies on a diversity of relevant sources, including input to received from Member States, country visits, and stakeholders’ contributions. Organisations working on rule of law related issues, such as aditus, are invited to send in their feedback on relevant developments and on the implementation or otherwise of the Commission’s country-specific recommendations.

aditus has been part of this process since its inception by the Commission in 2020. This year was no different and we submitted feedback in the fields of justice and institutional issues related to checks and balances.
